Are there any Healthy Foods I Can eat all the Time

The answer to the above question is: Of course there are. If by always you mean frequently and not abnormally, there are plenty of foods that you can eat without putting on extra weight or torturing your taste buds. To stay healthy and eat healthy are terms that are usually interchangeable. you like to watch your weight, there is no need to completely give up on food you like but to substitute it with healthier choices. Given below is a list of healthy food substitutes for your normal dietary intake.

Do not give up on meat, just red meat. Substitute your pork chops and beef steak with a turkey sandwich or chicken sausages. White meat does not only help you drastically lower the amount of calories and fat you take in but also tastes great. You can have it in a huge variety such as pepperoni, sandwiches, sausage, to name just a few.

Stop drinking whole milk. You may crave the cream for a while but remember that’s just plain fat. Skimmed milk is a far better and healthier option. Of course you can also make a slower transition by going first for the low fat variety and then for the non-fat skimmed. People who have given up on whole milk, now swear by skimmed milk. Once you realize the fat content in almost every food you consume, skimmed milk will come as a refreshing change giving you the true value of milk without the guilt.

Switch to fresh juices. Most of us are regular consumers of sodas and fizzy drinks. What we don’t realise is how many useless and sometimes even harmful calories we are guzzling down without getting any benefit from them. It’s just plain sugar. Fruit juices, especially ones made from fresh fruits are an excellent substitute. They are easily made at home, are not taxing on your monthly spend and work wonders for your health. So before you grab that bottle of coke with its 200-300 empty calories from the shelf, look towards the fruit aisle and make the right choice.

Foods that have been classified as healthy like meat or vegetables can be made unhealthy due to our own negligence. For instance, a delicious chicken breast marinated in garlic, lemon juice and some salt, baked to a golden perfection makes an amazingly satisfying and healthy meal. Now take the same piece of chicken, deep fry it and sere it with onion rings. What you get is a sure shot way to a heart attack in your fifties. Stay clear of fatty and cheap oil!

Fruits and vegetables, specially the ones grown organically, are as healthy, as healthy can be. Untouched by harmful chemicals and ripened by nature, these not only prove to be healthy snacks but taste delicious too. Try dicing up different seasonal fruits and tossing them together in a bowl with 2 teaspoons of honey and you will make yourself a scrumptious treat without burdening your conscience with harmful calories.
Do not bring a drastic change to your usual diet though. Take it easy and slow starting with substituting some basic unhealthy choices you made previously and then move on to substituting other foods.
