Asthma
Asthma is a condition that affects the airways of the lungs which causes the airways to become inflamed and swollen. The airways are called the bronchi and with asthma, they become more sensitive and certain substances can irritate them.
With irritated bronchi, they become narrow and the muscles around them tighten, causing sticky mucus and phlegm. This can make the chest feel tight, wheezing, coughing and it becomes difficult to breathe.
Left untreated, this can become worse and your airways can become totally blocked making breathing impossible. This can lead to death.
What Causes Asthma?
Several factors may contribute to asthma. These include a genetic predisposition, diet or the environment. It can be triggered by
- Infections of the airways and chest.
- Allergens like pollen, dust mites, animal furs or feathers
- Airborne irritations like cigarette smoke or pollution.
- Medicine like beta-blockers or certain class of painkillers
- Weather conditions such as cold air
- Emotional factors like stress or laughing or
- Food containing sulphites and food preservatives.
Prevention of Asthma Attacks
Since treatment of asthma can be expensive and last a lifetime, Miracles for Men suggests prevention as a better option. Some of the things that one can do to prevent asthma include:
1.Stop smoking
If one is a smoker, one should stop smoking. Smoking can reduce the effectiveness of Asthma medication. Reduced smoking also reduces the severity and the frequency of Asthma symptoms. If one does not smoke, exposure to smoke should be avoided.
2.Vaccinations
People with severe asthma are recommended to receive vaccinations for influenza and pneumococcal. This will reduce the increased risks from other complications.
3.Avoid Asthma Triggers
Once you identify the triggers that cause your asthma, every effort should be made to avoid them. Triggers like dust mites, fungal spores and pet furs can be easily avoided. However, some triggers like air pollution, weather conditions and viral illness are harder to avoid.
4.Weight, Diet and Exercise
Miracles for Men insist on maintaining weight, good diet and exercise for most common problems including Asthma. Exercise should be vigorous enough to leave your heart beating faster. A brisk walk can help in that aspect. If you have difficulty breathing when exercising, you should see your physician for further recommendations.
A low fat diet, high in fibre including plenty of fish, fresh fruits and vegetables can go a long way in preventing asthma attacks.
It is important to improve the general health of a community in order to try to control asthma attacks. More people are suffering from this condition and young children are not spared either. Even if one cannot cure their asthma, good health habits help to stop getting it out of control.
