Any Advice on Energy Gels

In recent months I have been reading up on Energy Gels, and have read many great reviews on them, and hear that Lance Armstrong was a big fan, consuming up to 48 a day while competing in the Tour de France! Has anyone in the forum ever had any experience with Energy Gels and have the worked for them. Not that there are many bad reviews out there and the Science In Sport ones comes highly recommend, but are they light on your stomach and are they easy to consume?
