The Diary - July 2008
One month to go to the beginning of the Olympics and the Miracles for Men team that is going to be representing us just got their confirmation to their rooms. The rest of us will be left to watch the games on TV. There are still some great competitions that we participated in this month.
2008 Tour de France - July 5th to July 27th
What is the month of July without the Tour de France?
After two straight years of major doping scandals, La Tour was back to try and regain its lost glory. Due to the damage inflicted by the doping scandals of Floyd Landis and the Astana team the previous years, Miracles for Men was one of the organizations that was in support of a drug free Tour.
Starting in the French city of Brest, the tour entered Italy on the 15th stage and returned to France during the 16th, heading for Paris, and its regular final destination, which was reached in the 21st stage.
Miracles for Men were there to congratulate Carlos Sastre as he won the race after a grueling 3,559 km of cycling.
British Weightlifting Championships - 13th July 2008
Thanks to Lilleshall NSC, the British Weightlifting championships were a great success. It seems that the competition becomes more intense each and every year we come here and this year was no different.
Our favorite was Peter Kirkbride, who was a comfortable winner in the 85kg class with a 300kg total, and making it 3rd British tile on the day to for his coach Charles Hamilton and the Kilmarnock Club.
Kindest Regards
The Miracles For Men Team
