L-Citrulline

What is L-Citrulline?

L-Citrulline is a new compound proven to be more effective than L-Arginine. It is an amino acid created from L-Arginine by the liver. L-Arginine is a precursor to nitric oxide, which is a precursor to L-Citrulline. L-Citrulline is then recycled back to L-Arginine, and in doing so, doubles the production of nitric oxide.

The primary role of L-Citrulline in the body is to support the optimization of blood flow to the tissues, which is critical for helping you not only perform your workouts to the best of your abilities, but also to speed up recovery.

L-Citrulline also plays a role in the urea cycle, where it helps to reduce the amount of lactic acid build-up you experience during your workouts. Avoiding this build up of lactic acid is important in helping to reduce the overall levels of fatigue you feel during the workout.

Taking dosages of L-Citrulline that are too low will not allow you to take full advantage of the heart health, improved immunity or increased energy results that you are looking for. A dosage that is too low will simply be absorbed in the intestinal tract before it can reach the cells in the remainder of the body.

Side Effects and Warnings of L-Citrulline

There are some serious consequences that are possible if your L-Citrulline dosage is not approved by your medical practitioner.

L-Citrulline can interact with other medication and lessen the effectiveness of those medications. Perhaps the most dangerous of these medication interactions is in the case of blood thinners. You should inform your doctor if you are using any blood thinners.

There are also situations where one may be treated for heart disease or another cardiovascular problem. In these situations using L-Citrulline might be inappropriate. You should consult your doctor in such situations.

Before you start using L-Citrulline, you should find out from your doctor if it can help you and also if it is safe for you to use.
