Should I Still Eat Fruits and Vegetables if I am on a Diet?

The answer to the above question is pretty encouraging for all people trying to reduce their weight or simply watching their weight. Including plenty of vegetables and fruits in your diet ensures sufficient weight loss. Besides ample other benefits that can be acquired from eating fruits and vegetables, losing weight in a safe manner is another one that interests most of us weight obsessed people of today.

Fruits and vegetables are a great weight loss food. In view of the fact that they are low on calories, we can eat a lot of vegetables and fruits without a great deal of weight gain problem. As these also contain a high content of fiber, they fill us up much more quickly and stop us from over indulging our appetites.

Due to the high content of various minerals and vitamins, they supply a sufficient amount of nutrients to our body making us feel great with loads of energy and strength. Being more active helps us in our weight loss goals.

Fruits and Vegetables Diet for Weight Loss

An adequate intake of fruits and vegetables has a lot of health benefits besides being great for weight loss. Let us see how you can incorporate them in your every day diet plan so you can loose weight the healthy way.

The FDA recommended 5 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables may seem a bit too much initially but it is not as hard as you believe when you relate it with how much each portion really is. This amount is actually equal to approximately 2 cups of fruits and 2 and 1/2 cups of vegetables per day. Now that doesn’t seem too much, does it?
To get utmost advantage from fruits and vegetables, they should be taken in a diverse range. Trying out different fruits and vegetables is much more beneficial as you get all the different nutrients present in each.

Another method of getting fruits and vegetables in your diet would be to make juices out of them. These are very good for health, but remember that direct consumption of fruits and veggies is much more nutritious.

A fact worth considering is that vitamin supplements are not good substitutes for fresh fruits and vegetables as these foods have much more than the micro-nutrients in vitamin pills. They are much less expensive, tastier and nutritious.
Personally, I try to incorporate as much fruits and vegetables in my diet as possible for the reason that I am fond of the satisfying feeling. I also trust that eating extra fresh foods will add to my intake of fiber, vitamins and minerals hence helping me stay healthy. The portions one needs to consume are also smaller and more filling then those of synthesized food and helps fill me up much more quickly. So there is no doubt about fruits and vegetables being beneficial to any one aiming to reduce their weight. The choice is up to you: One slice of pizza and a day of starvation or all the fruits and veggies you can eat all day long without that empty feeling in your stomach.
