The Reproductive System
The human reproductive system is probably the most intensely discussed system of the human body. It is a subject of the media, movies, and even politics and because of this it is subject to a deluge of both misinformation and innuendo.
Sexual reproduction is the process of producing offspring for the survival of the species and passing on hereditary traits from one generation to the next. In human beings, the male and female reproductive systems contribute to the human reproduction system.
The male and female gonads in this case testes and ovaries, produce sex cells (ova and sperm) and the hormones necessary for the development, maintenance and functioning of the reproduction organs.
Modern medicine has made major breakthroughs in helping those whose reproductive systems are not functioning properly. However, the main process of the male sperms fertilizing the female eggs or ova has remained the same.
