What Supplements do I Use when Weight Training

It is very important for someone who has decided to take up weight training to take care of what they eat. Not only is one required to increase their normal food intake, the quality of what one is eating is also very important. When I began weight training, I never took care of my diet and ended up wondering why I was always so tired and having serious muscle soreness. It turns out that I had nothing to change my nutrition and as such though I was training, poor nutrition was actually setting me back.

It became obvious to me that my normal diet was not going to give me the best rewards when I was weight training and decided to add sports supplements to my diet. The effects were awesome and immediate. It was easy for me to will my way to my gym and enjoy a great weight lifting experience with results to show for it. Some of the supplements that I added to my weight lifting program included.

1. Protein Supplements

Protein is just another term for a combination of amino acids. Amino acids are basically the building blocks of muscle and lack of amino acids will lead to your body not growing. It was easy to find protein in my food for my daily activities but when I started weight training, there was a need improve on the quality of the protein.

Whey protein was the way to go. It is very safe and well documented to produce a complete spectrum of amino acids that are necessary during weight training. It is very fast acting and its use greatly improved my delivery and at last I could see improvement in my muscle structure. Any sports supplement that contains whey protein is good for you.

2. Creatine

This is one of the most popular supplements and has no adverse side effects. Creatine is important in my weight training program as it helps increase fat free mass and improve anaerobic and aerobic performance.

Creatine can be found in red meat and is naturally produced in the body. The use of Creatine enhances the ability of the muscles to maintain power output during brief periods of high intensity exercise. It is used mainly to improve on recovery after training and also aid muscle growth.

It is unlikely you will eat enough red meat, which is also unhealthy, to give you the necessary creatine during weight training so it is essential as a supplement.

3. Multivitamins and Antioxidants

Deficiencies in vitamins and minerals can result to severe disease. When weight training you need to know that you can withstand any illness. Nothing is worse than getting common cold because you did not have a balanced diet when weight training.

I have found that simply taking multivitamins as a substitute to nutritious food does not help in anyway. Multivitamins will just ensure that you get the necessary minerals that you need but they can not replace a proper diet.

A sports diet rich with vitamin c and e and fruits and vegetables rich in carotenes will greatly improve your weight training performance. Healthy nutrition means greater weight training results free of common injury and disease and a better body. Sport supplements are not meant to substitute good eating habits but help your body get all the necessary nutrition for weight training.
